Europe's largest wilderness area is perfect for bikepacking adventures
Service Description
Availability: 22.- 26.7.2023 (5 days) Group size: 2-6 people Also available on request. Suitable for adventurous people capable of being active for 5-7 hrs a day with good mountain biking skills. Kaldoaivi Wilderness Area is situated in the most North-Eastern corner of EU and by being the largest wilderness area in Europe it's the perfect spot for great bikepacking adventures. Many mountain bikers in Finland know it for Kaldoaivi Ultra Trail, a 130 km one day challenge for riders. Reindeer herding is a vital part of the area and thanks to modern herding with ATV's, there are plenty of trails for us to explore. The rugged open landscapes with barely any trees growing divided by crystal clear waters and big open skies is a truly powerful area to experience. Quietness and the calm of nature surrounding us is unique especially for someone living in a modern city. For riding the trails and tracks of the area can be at times challenging especially with full bikepacking gear. There are also some rewarding flowy sections, but be prepared to get your feet wet with numerous river crossings and going through muddy swamps every now and then. If you are into fishing you are welcome to take fishing gear with you. During our trip it's berry picking season and we will get some fresh produce into our plate directly from nature's own Supermarket. On this unique trip we will overnight in tents and cook together along the way. After 4 days of mountain biking we come back to civilization and treat ourselves with sauna, swimming and a well deserved dinner. Next day it's time to part our ways and say goodbyes.** **If it feels too early to leave the wonderful North Eastern part of Europe and you are interested to explore Norway, join us on a three day kayaking trip to the Arctic Ocean. We start next day from Pulmankijärvi, Finland kayaking on a lake and then along rivers paddling through changing gorgeous landscapes on river Teno all the way to Tanamunningen in Norway where the river and sea come together. If this resonates with you check out our product info Kayaking to the Arctic Ocean.
